Kelvin Tichana

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Kelvin holds a Bs is an expert in designing and building intelligent systems, combining AI / Machine Learning algorithms, such as natural language processing (NLP) and computer vision (CV) algorithms, and hardware (embedded devices) to design thinking in entrepreneurship. Kelvin is enthusiastic about developing AI tools that solve redundant and inconvenient problems in the business sphere by allowing everyday electronics and machines to have an intelligent understanding of their environment.

Panashe Taruwinga

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Panashe is a tech enthusiast, combining experience and interest in machine learning and Artificial Intelligence. Through his passion for leveraging technological advances in AI, Panashe’s life-goal is to equip youth in developing countries with AI skills while assisting small businesses to leverage on data and technology to improve operational throughput.  While Panashe leads by example he’s here to lead development of model back-ends for businesses that last. Panashe is an expert at Python, Java, Webflow, web-scraping, AI and machine learning.

George Minyillah

Web Developer Lead

George’s passions are all things software.  Web and app development are second nature with George’s track record as a seasoned information technology ninja and services sector expert. His expertise includes programming in Python, Java, Django, Matlab, and Arduino. As an avid public speaker and design thinking enthusiast; George maintains personal and professional interest in the creative fields. George’s adept group-think skills make him an asset to any team while leading the development of novel solutions to the world's problems.

Daniel Levy

Founder

Daniel holds an M.Sc. in Innovation & Entrepreneurship, with specialisation in Design Thinking and Innovation Management from HEC Paris, France. His career spans 15 years, with over 10 years of directorship experience in West Africa. Daniel is an expert at restructuring for Private Equity - leading executive strategy and operations. He has held extensive executive roles with concessionaires across West Africa, directing restructuring of large-scale operations for over 20 international agencies (most publicly listed). Daniel is also a director of development interventions, leading economic research for the World Bank, a Think Tank for USAID, and private-sector implementation for the UN, GAC, Gates and many more, focused on macro & micro-economic research, policy, and micro-finance to create economic growth.

Lily Rose Kramer

Android Developer Lead

Having completed an extensive education program in Software Engineering, Lily has been able to receive her Professional Diploma in the field from the prestigious IPMC of Accra. Her passion for all things IT related immersed her into the world of application development along with knowledge of C++ and HTML, which is just the beginning of her educational and professional journey. Lily has been able to earn her place as being part of a team in charge of Application development and other projects. Her dedication and understanding towards this has offered her the opportunity to team up with well-experienced programmers who share similar goals and ideologies in the world of IT.

Dave Leori Donbo

iOS Developer Lead

Dave Leori Donbo is a BSc in Computer Engineering Student at Ashesi University. Dave is an expert at using technology to generate social change, specifically in mobile software development. With experience in enterprise software development, mobile app development, information security, and surveillance, Dave brings real-industry experience, having built mobile applications in agriculture, finance, manufacturing, and production. Well-versed in Native Android environments in Kotlin/Java, Dave is focused on cross-platform iOS and Android mobile app development in Flutter. Dave also founded a ride-sharing mobile app, Kambuu, to provide its services using unconventional transport, the first of its kind in West Africa. Dave is also the Track Lead for Mobile App Development for the Google Developer Student Clubs at Ashesi University and also serves as a programming tutor under the Counseling, Coaching, and Academic Advising Department of Ashesi University.

Our Journey

In the beginning

We studied entrepreneurial service ecosystems:

Hackathons reward nice ideas without business viability, making people feel good by dreaming in a vacuum.

Incubators and Accelerators use terms like ‘fast-track’ to charge money for free information, and ‘cohorts’, as if your business had the same problems at the same time, as everyone else.

VC’s and Angels identify which businesses have already built the most, to pay the least possible amount for that value. While that may fit a company’s growth model, it’s also the most expensive way to scale, and not hands-on.

Sure, there’s connections on offer, but that’s an expensive cup of coffee.  Look at the success rates and repeat return rates of companies from any of the above tiers of service - it’s obvious most are worried about finding their next startup, rather than building great businesses and products that last.

We found Service Gaps

Competent, motivated founders lack support.  Sure, visibility can be gained through institutions, but it can also be gained by building in public.

Today, we’ve launched.

We built our model to break the above barriers of entry to entrepreneurship. We find the right founders to build the best businesses and products with.

No MVP, market, cash flow, profit, or otherwise before you qualify. No ‘fast-track’ cohorts, false promises or praises.

The only requirement for our equity partnerships in development is that you have either:  
- A first buyer/customer
- A first supplier
- A strategic partnership

How do I understand Impact Design Studio’s value proposition?

While we’re always looking for ways to develop products and services for clients, when we come on with equity partners to develop a business model. 

We have a flat rate 10% equity for all ideas founded at the ideation phase, and a 5% equity for all businesses with an MVP, market, and cash flow looking to scale.  Taking on individual team members from our trusted experts and partners will only occur on an as-requested basis.

What does our involvement afford you and your business?  You get full access to our in-house development team, at-cost development services for your business, personal and professional mentorship, and a wide network of experts and investment opportunities at your fingertips.

What qualifications are needed to apply?

None.  We operate a meritocracy.  We don’t care where you’re from, what your level of education is, or what stage your idea is in.  We don’t select based on your gender, race, origin or any feature of personality that’s outside of your control.
All you need is a little bit of leverage. Got an idea? We love assisting at ideation. Just make sure you have a first buyer, first supplier, or a strategic partner in development.

What are your average project timelines? 

Sticking to a timeline, cohorts, or a fixed schedule limits businesses, founders, and teams. Instead of the status quo - we design our working relationships around your personal and professional needs. This means our scope of work and timelines are suited to you and never the same as anyone else.

How do you charge for your services?

Every engagement is different. We believe a one size fits all model is ineffective. Instead, when we find founders that would like assistance, we look at their needs and objectives and help them to get there. Impact Design Studio can be engaged as a founding partner to your business if you don’t have the team or funds to bootstrap alone, or if you would like to preserve equity or limit our engagement to a specific part of your development we can be hired for that alone.
